Experience during the 1970’s in construction of traditional masonry fireplaces in upstate NY. In late 1970’s and early 1980’s became involved in project management in the Washington, DC area (including exterior restoration of the Marine Commandant’s residence). Relocated to Westchester, NY, then to Brooklyn and then Long Island.
Worked on restoration of Staten Island Lighthouse, then on George Rogers Clark National Historical Monument in Vincennes, Indiana (1984, Harlow Restoration). Worked for 2.5 years as Clerk of the Works on $20M renovation of 3 bus depots at NYC Transit project in Harlem (1985-1986 Thomason Industries).
As former executive vice-president and partner (1987-2003) of Apple Restoration & Waterproofing, Inc., a specialty restoration-contracting firm, Mr. Follett was actively involved in the varied tasks of marketing, estimating, business development and project management on small and large historic preservation and exterior maintenance related projects. Varied exterior envelope and heritage conservation projects ranged from $20,000 to $6M in scope.
